Uslane means “at noon” in the Etruscan language, a tongue which is almost lost to time. Although we know that it was the Etruscans who taught the French to make wine, their way of speaking is, but for a few words, entirely lost. Much of what is known of this enigmatic civilisation was found, at noon, as archeologists moved aside a large stone that formed the seal to a Prince’s tomb. Inside they found the skeleton of the Prince perfectly preserved, alongside a red velvet mantle, a hanging vase filled with scented ointments, and sparkling jewellery in the classic Etruscan style. The Uslane Earrings are a tribute to those warm days, full of discovery, in the height of life, at the peak of the sun.
