Socially responsible / Artisan Made

Established in 2017, AURELIA is the brainchild of co-founders and sisters Andrea, Paula and Magdalena. They named their company after their great-grandmother, Aurelia, who was an innovative, creative and modern woman. The brand first launched the Ladrillo collection of unique, intricate wooden bags with interchangeable "charra" straps handmade by Mexican artisans. Each box, made with certified reforested wood, is unique and becomes a collector's item. The siblings frequently travel around the country to gain inspiration, especially their hometown of Guadalajara, which they visit monthly.

Materials: Box - Recycled and reforested wood from the south of the US, Peru, Brazil or Mexico. Strap - Leather 100% sourced in Mexico. Packaging - Jerga, a traditional textile made from 100% recycled cotton.

Suppliers: Aurelia works with local artisans in Mexico specialized in high quality woodworking and “charrería” to produce wooden bags, leather straps and cotton reins, gaining inspiration from a pure and traditional Mexican craft.

Factories: Each Aurelia piece goes through approximately 20 hands in the production process before arriving to its owner. Artisans from all over Mexico generally have specialized workshops in or near their homes, allowing them to be close to their families. Aurelia expects to open their own workshop in Jalisco in 2019-2020.

Employees: 3 co-founders, 1 part-time team member and more than 15 artisans.

Social Responsibility: Aurelia works with certified reforested woods.
